City Silo Table + Pantry is one of my favorite locally owned restaurants to visit in Memphis, and I was ecstatic when the location finally opened in Saddle Creek! A friend of mine jokingly says that I should own stock in them at this point because I eat there so much, and honestly, he might be on to something, lol! I’m always on the go, and being able to grab HEALTHY, tasty food when I want it vs. stopping at a fast food restaurant helps to keep me on track with snacking and calories. I also love the fact that they have a patio area where you can sit outside and meet with friends while you enjoy your meal!

City Silo Top Picks

City Silo offers re-imagined comfort food that features wholesome, clean ingredients, so it’s an easy pick for me when I don’t feel like cooking or want to eat light. They have a vast menu of bowls, smoothies, juices, and sandwiches, but like most people I have my tried and true favorites that I order when I visit. I slowly add new things to my recommendation list, but since there may be a few people out there that are new to it and wonder what to get, I wanted to share my top recommendations from the menu. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with any of these!

City Silo Top Picks

Buffalo Tempeh + Sesame Cauliflower Bowl
(roasted sesame cauliflower, tempeh marinated in buffalo sauce, red onions, bell peppers, roasted sweet potatoes, kale, sweet corn, roasted sunflower kernels, with cashew ranch)
This bowl is my TOP, TOP, TOP favorite pick out of all of the dishes there. I absolutely love it and could literally eat it every day (in fact, it’s what I had for dinner 3 days ago. Ha!) Seriously, it’s hearty, filling and flavorful and everyone that I’ve suggested it to falls in love with it as well. I always add avocado slices to it, and sometimes chicken for an added boost of protein.

California Sun Sandwich
(cashew basil aioli, spinach, microgreens, sunflower sprouts, tomato, and mozzarella* on toasted, freshly baked bread)
So I love the flavors of spinach, tomato and mozzarella together, so I sometimes grab this when I want a quick snack. You can add chicken to it as well, or just enjoy it as is with a salad.

Cauliwings
(roasted and grilled tempeh marinated in buffalo sauce + sesame cauliflower, marinated in buffalo sauce, served with grilled celery and carrot sticks finished with a cashew ranch sauce)
I love the flavor of this sauce, and they’re a great shareable dish (or one you can enjoy alone with a salad). Is it just like chicken? No, but the texture is reminiscent of them and they’re very tasty!

Hippie Scramble
(two fresh farm eggs served with roasted and grilled sweet potato hash, seasoned black and kidney beans, kale, avocado, quinoa and brown rice)
Another bowl, but a breakfast edition! Bowls like this are so filling, so they’re a great meal for those days when you need extra fuel to take on all of your tasks, but won’t necessarily have time to constantly stop and go eat.

Pico De Cado
(fresh sliced avocado, pico de gallo, lemon juice, cracked peppercorn, pink salt)
I could eat avocado toast every single day, and this is a classic, yummy version of it. Sometimes I’ll get it when I need a quick snack, and others I’ll add a fried egg when I need more protein and am having it for breakfast.

Pineapple Express Green Juice
(pineapple, granny smith apple, cucumber, kale, parsley, spinach, mint, lemon, ginger, celery)
Not everyone likes green juice because it can taste like grass (I’m just being honest, lol), but I really enjoy this one because of the sweetness. If you’re new to green juices and want to eeeeease into drinking them (and you’re not making them at home), I recommend this one. The other flavors are for more hardcore juicers who don’t need the sweetness in order to enjoy it.

City Silo Top Picks

Vanilla Happy Daze Smoothie
(banana, almond butter, vanilla, cinnamon, maple syrup, almond milk)
This smoothie tastes just like a milkshake to me! It’s not as thick as one, obviously, but it’s one that I get when I want something sweet but don’t want to get any candy (although they do carry a brand of smores Peanut Butter Cups that are INSANELY good). This smoothie makes you feel like you’re indulging, but it’s being done in a healthy way.

There are a ton of other dishes on their menu that I get from time to time, but when I don’t want to think or am starving, I pick something from these options and am always pleased with it. Healthy food doesn’t have to be bland, and City Silo works to prove that every day. The next time you visit The Shops of Saddle Creek, give them try!
